Technorati WTF Utility
I do find Technorati's WTF utility to be, well, useful. Looking at the popular searches, I often have no idea what they're about. It takes too long to wade through all of the blog posts from a search to find out what the topic means. Without WTF, I don't think I'd take the time to find out.
The other thing that's interesting is that the popular searches often seem to pertain to 3 categories: celebrities (famous people or some sex scandal), technology (web 2.0 sites in particular), and politics. For example, here are the current popular searches, broken down into those categories:
